This lip scrub is not only beyond easy but it is the perfect way to show yourself a little love or include as the perfect gift for friend or family member. I list some great ideas down below!

This recipe takes literally less than 5 minutes to minutes to prep, which is perfect for all of us on a time budget. It’s also budget friendly.

Making your own lip scrub will cost a little but more upfront than going to lush and buying some, but you will get so many batches out of these ingredients AND they are an amazing gift to give to friends or family if you are on a budget but want to give something thoughtful and something people will actually use and love!

A lot of companies intentionally don’t disclose what’s in their products- scents, colorants, preservatives, etc because they are terrible and toxic for you. That’s why you can have total peace of mind making your own!

The good news is, if you don’t like lavender, or you are making a gift for your friend and you know they love bergamot and rose, then go ahead and customize these scents differently! There is endless possibilities. Struggle with stress and anxiety like I do? Then check out this blog on The Essential Oil Stress Kit or this blog on 6 Essential Oil Blends For Stress & Anxiety to customize a relaxing scent for your lip scrub. Just ALWAYS make sure to look up what you are putting in your DIY concoction and do a patch test first!

Why Lavender?

Lavender is the bees knees, and it’s essential oil is kind of a jack of all trades. Here are just some of it’s many benefits: Anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-septic, and anti-bacterial. Source.

What does that ultimately boil down to?

Well, things like nourished skin- especially if you have inflammatory skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, or just plain ol’ dry skin.

Reduction in stress and anxiety. Source.

This is just to name a few. All this to say, it’s a great ingredient in your lip scrub!

How to use a lip scrub:

  1. Start after you get out of the shower or after you use a warm compress on your lips for 5 minutes  to soften them,
  2. Apply the lip scrub in circular motions. DO NOT rub hard- the scrub does most of the work
  3. Rinse off with lukewarm water.
  4. I usually follow it up with a lip chap. Check out this lip chap recipe for the perfectly rosy and moisturized lips!
