Baths are just the best way to wind down. Maybe a little music, or a nice book… some wine may or may not be involved but who’s to say.

Bath bombs are such a fantastic addition to a bath, they are practically the grown up version of bubble baths. Just kidding, bubble baths are also great.

Making your own bath bombs will cost a little more money upfront than going to lush and getting a few, but you can make multiple batches with these ingredients you will need. In the end, it’s gonna be wayyyyy more cost friendly than expensive places like lush.

The best part of all in my opinion is you know exactly what’s in them. A lot of beauty companies intentionally don’t disclose what they are putting in their products, which is a huge no no for me.

Since you are making them yourself you can also customize the scent. I personally chose lavender and peppermint for this one, but you can mix and match what you like. Just make sure to always do your research before using different essential oils.

Why Lavender?

Lavender is the bees knees, and it’s essential oil is kind of a jack of all trades. Here are just some of it’s many benefits: Anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-septic, and anti-bacterial. Source.

What does that ultimately boil down to?

Well, things like nourished skin- especially if you have inflammatory skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, or just plain ol’ dry skin.

Reduction in stress and anxiety. Source.

This is just to name a few. All this to say, it’s a great ingredient in your lip scrub!

  1. 1 cup baking soda
  2. 1/2 cup citric acid
  3. 1/2 cup corn starch
  4. 3 tbsp epsom salts
  5. 3 tsp unrefined coconut oil
  6. small glass bottle of unscented witch hazel
  7. 10-15 drops lavender essential oil (I use a blend called lavender harvest because it has tons of strains of lavender in it and smells like relaxation in a bottle.
  8. 5-10 drops of peppermint oil (this stuff is strong and can easily overpower the lavender so play around with the oils and find a balance that is right for you!
  9. dried lavender buds (optional)
  10. dried peppermint leaves (optional)
  11. silicone molds or tin molds (you can really customize it here and make it super fun!)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl mix together the baking soda, citric acid, corn starch, and Epsom salt.
  2. Melt the coconut oil in  a microwave, then pour into the dry mix.
  3. Add in the essential oils.
  4. spray the mixture with your spray bottle full of witch haxel and spray about 2 sprays at a  time, mixing in-between, until you can grab and the mixture with your hand and it holds form and doesn’t fall apart. If you head fizzing you have sprayed too much, you are just aiming to lightly dampen the mixture.
  5. If using the silicone molds then pack them and leave overnight (at least 12 hours.) Carefully remove the next day and store.
  6. If using the tin molds then make sure to only use them for forming purposes. Pack into either side and smash together, remove the molds by tapping on them to loosen. Leave them on a plate or cutting board overnight to dry.
  7. Get crafty with it! If it’s a gift use the adorable FREE printable labels to put on your containers!
